Land Use and Prices

Land Use

Land Use predominately throughout the area between Moora and Geraldton is broad acre farming consisting of wheat and sheep.

The major crops sown include barley, canola, lupins, oats and wheat. Most farmers graze sheep for the wool and the meat market. Cattle and pigs are also grown for the meat market.

In the last ten years farm forestry has increased with farmers opting to plant small acreages of various tree species including soft and hard wood.

There is also mining throughout the area for mineral sands and silicone.

Most services between Moora and Geraldton support the agricultural sector (ie. agricultural machinery dealerships, agricultural merchandise and parts, fuel depots, tyre fitters, mechanics and essential services).
